When toilet paper and disinfectant wipes were still plentiful in stores, I was preparing for a covid-19 apocalypse. Last month, while the new virus in China still seemed like a distant news story, I started haunting HappyPreppers.com and cruising online shopping sites for a bushcraft knife. I loaded shopping carts not only with rice and beans but with duct tape, dried peanut butter and flashlights. I wasn’t paranoid, I told myself. I was just being smart.
